I frequently use the hashtag #healyourself. I am actively on a journey to heal myself. But I think that people have the wrong idea about what I mean by “heal myself”, so I thought I would explain what I mean, and extend an invitation to you to join our community of self-healers.
When people ask me what they should do to start to work with herbs, meditation, or with a wellness coach, I usually cringe. It’s a normal human behavior to ask questions expecting a blanket answer to a question that has great complexity, but there is no real blanket answer. Well, there is, but people just starting out with their own wellness journey are seldom prepared to hear, let alone accept, the hard truth answer. But here it is: If you want to be holistically healthy, the journey starts by getting brutally honest with oneself about the part one plays in his/her/their own misery. That is a really hard thing to do.
Autonomy is the capacity for self-governance, acting independently, and making uncoerced, informed decisions based on personal values. Autonomy is a liberating experience. But you have to take responsibility for your own shit. You have to be willing to accept responsibility for yourself. No more blaming, no more excuses. Yes, external circumstances happen that we cannot control that affect our lives. Many of those are unfair. But even those experiences are each of our own responsibility to deal with. Even when you aren’t responsible for the pain in your life, you do have the responsibility to heal it.
But what people don’t realize is that most of us are not living autonomously. For a myriad of reasons, humans tend to try to not cause commotion and to fly under the radar. They do what they are “supposed to” do, even when that behavior goes against one’s personal beliefs or values. Interestingly enough, psychologists have found that mental health issues are often linked to lack of autonomy in one’s life. See below:

Autonomy is required for deep healing. Because each of us is completely unique from one another, we must reconnect to our own intuition. We must develop a willingness to learn and to try things maybe you hadn’t considered before. There is a very strong body/mind connection within us all, but that connection doesn’t happen on its own. We can immediately change our mental health by claiming autonomy. Then other things start to happen. Your body starts to remember what it needs. You can learn to quiet your mind so you can focus on listening to your body. You start to understand the language of your body.
I would like to extend an invitation to you to find support and strength in community. The burgeoning Green Vibe Energy community (on Patreon) is a safe place for humans to connect, find networking opportunities that will share information about quality, vetted professionals who specialize in method of healing outside of my realm of understanding, and members have access to a growing number of classes, workshops, guided meditation, etc. I’ve been hoping to get more input on what needs there are that I should address. If you would like to accept my invitation, I welcome you to take advantage of my offer for a FREE one-year subscription to the community. You can take advantage of this offer at: https://www.patreon.com/GreenVibeEnergy/redeem/1EAF8
