Green Vibe Energy: Deep healing, rooted in nature

And healing is the effort we put into returning our body, mind, and spirit to its natural, homeostatic state of being. Green Vibe Energy is the energy that brings balance to our lives and empowers us to be our authentic selves and live our very best lives. Green Vibe Energy is the energy of:

  • The heart chakra: this is the energy of unconditional love.
  • The Earth: nature is incredibly healing and science proves the benefits of grounding your body into the Earth. Connecting with the Earth means incorporating the energies of the air, earth, fire, and water into your healing and fostering a deeper relationship with and stewardship for the Earth, which truly provides everything we need not only to survive, but to thrive.
  • Plants and things that spring forth from the Earth: for tens of thousands of years, people (and animals!) have explored the properties of plants and identified the powerful energies that are contained within. From food to pharmaceuticals, plants contain not only nourishment but medicine. They have the power to heal, and working with herbs is an inexpensive and accessible way to support development of strength and wellness in the body. Herbalism works hand-in-hand with western medicine, but in a less intrusive and gentler way than western practices.

But what do you do?

I am healing from a lifetime of trauma and emotional dis-regulation, as are many of my fellow GenXers are. I have been blown away to learn how plants and humans have evolved together over Millenia, and our bodies are made to receive the goodness from the natural world. Plants and herbs exist to nourish and strengthen our bodies. But somewhere about 75 years ago, the world discovered the convenience that comes in preparing food – if you strip away all the nutrients, and fill natural food full of chemicals to make it shelf stable, you get what our folks thought was absolutely genius: cheap products made to mimic real food.

The women in my family are nearly all overweight. I wasn’t raised with an understanding of how to feed my body to nourish it. Add to that absolutely abysmal behaviors around food that have left with with a lifelong struggle with obesity. The emotional and physical abuse I endured as a kid have overwhelmed my body and as I result I live with chronic pain. I some days move like I’m 80.

But I have so much life left to live.

I believe that every human has inherent worth and deserves to live the life they dreams of. My work is in creating safety and community in which women are empowered to create a life from which they never need to escape. I empower women to take the lead role in their healing, facilitate a community that is supportive and up-lifting of one another. Then, as women are regaining their sense of self and remembering that we are ALIVE, we engage our inner child and our crone with play. Activities that foster connect and transformational guided group travel is how we put all we learn into practice. We work to heal ourselves, one another, and the Earth.

Second Adolescence?

Yep. It means just what you think it means.

I am starting a movement. This movement is to awaken and empower women to claim their sovereignty, to give them safe spaces in which to explore who they are and what their dreams are – and then to support and guide them in creating a life from which they never feel the need to escape. Green Vibe Energy (and Get Going Travel, my other business) both serve to provide support for women on their healing and their pursuit of transformational travel experience, all in the safe community we are building. I believe that learning to balance our adult responsibilities while serving our inner child. We work hard on healing – and then we play. Fun is incredibly healing.

The Practice of Meditation

I am not the first person in the wellness field to have meditation as a key tool used for healing. But I may a different perspective on it. I spent 20 years trying and failing and believing I was incapable of meditating. The ways in which it had been described to me left me feeling like something was the matter because I could not do it. My mind was a furiously racing beast that I could not control for most of my life. It was not possible, with the experiences I had up to about eight years ago, to quiet it. My mind was the master of me and I didn’t know any other way.

Then one morning in late spring, as I enjoyed the birds chirping from the comfort of my hammock, I realized that my mind was moving, and although I couldn’t shut it off entirely, I discovered I could keep it moving. I could stay in the moment not by shutting my brain down, but by letting it roam free. I changed my practice from the infuriating attempt to shut down the brain and honored its need to move, and in doing so, I unknowingly lost a lot of the resistance my mind had to meditation. I now practiced taking in every noise, smell, sight that my mind could create – but I kept it moving and refused to let it settle into any of the thoughts it created. This was difficult (at first), but it was infinitely easier that trying to fight my overactive mind.

I know some people are not going to like what I have to say here. I sure didn’t like it for YEARS. But meditation is one of the keys to healing. Meditation allows you to become the master of your own emotions and mind, and only when you are the master of these can you fully heal.

Guided meditation is a very popular solution for those who struggle to quiet the mind. It gives you somewhere to put your attention, making it easier to bring the parasympathetic nervous system online. This is the part of our nervous system we want activated during rest.
